Mayweather praying for Pacquiao Victory?

During yesterdays press conference for the Mayweather/Mosley bout, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer stated his believe that the fight could top 3 million PPV buys. While this prediction might seem excessive there is no doubt it’s going to be huge. But how much could the outcome of Manny Pacquiao’s March 13th square off with Joshua Clottey affect the numbers?

Even though these upcoming matches have been set in stone for weeks now, most of the fight talk on boxing forums has still been about Mayweather/Pacquiao with many fans crossing their fingers that these fights are just the semi finals before the real real event happens later in the year.

If Pacquiao hands Clottey a beating later this month, the hype machine will be turned up a notch with all eyes turned to May 1st to find out who’s the man to fight the man. If on the other hand he loses to Clottey it will take the edge of the excitement and maybe some of fans converted to boxing by Pacquiao’s recent exploits(and as a consequence despise Mayweather) may be turned off.

Now im not suggesting Floyd will be watching March 13th with rosary beads in his hands but surely a win for Manny is good for Money.

Model and fashion designer Sam Pinto became a Pinoy Big Brother Double Up housemate in the middle of the season, which became a big challenge for her to adjust to the other housemates who were already bonded with each other for several weeks prior to her entrance. “At first it was very hard for me kasi bonded na sila. May mga nangyari na sa kanila na hindi ko alam. Kapag pinaguusapan nila ‘yung mga past weekly tasks hindi ako maka-relate. Pero hinayaan ko na lang. Later on naman I was able to catch up,” Sam shared in an interview with ABS-CBN.com.The 20-year-old beauty said that she had an easy time being with the girls. “The girls were all nice naman lalo na si Mommy Kath (Lopena-Ortega). Siya talaga ‘yung nagasikaso sa akin, parang mommy talaga. ‘Yung ibang girls kasi parang wala lang.” But Sam admitted that she found fellow housemate Mariel Soriño a suck up. “She loves to kiss a**… Tipong lagi na lang, ‘Gusto mong linisin ko shoes mo?!’ ‘Ano’ng gusto mo?!’ ‘O sige gagawin ko ‘yan!’ ‘Super na!’ Ewan ko lang kung ganun talaga siya or strategy niya ‘yun so that all the housemates will like her and hindi siya ma-nominate. If that’s her strategy I must say it’s working. Galing! Hindi siya masyado nano-nominate.”

Sam, who instantly became popular with the male housemates because of model-worthy looks, revealed how the boys would try to hit on her during her first few weeks inside the house. “Naku! Puro cheesy lines ang mga naririnig ko sa kanila. Sobrang dami nakalimutan ko na kung ano ano. Si Hermes (Bautista) ang pinakamatinik talaga. Nakwento sa akin ‘yung pagka-close niya kay Katlin (Laas, the Finnish exchange housemate) and then kay Cathy (Remperas). He tried to get close with me pero wala talagang nangyari. Wala namang problema sa akin. Nakakatuwa rin. Pero hindi ko masyadong sineseryoso.”

Despite her popularity with the boys, none of them asked Sam to be their date during the Christmas Ball. Sam was disappointed, but she said that she already knows that there’s a downside to her good looks. “I guess they were scared of me, scared that I would just turn them down. All my life ganun din e. Sa school, ang laki ng school pero wala man lang nanligaw sa akin. But okay naman. Naging masaya rin naman ako.”

Sam admitted that she had wished for Paul Jake Castillo to have asked her to be his date at the ball. “He’s the cutest of them all…for me, ha ha ha! Type ko ‘yung mga bad boy looking, ‘yung mga dirty rugged looking guys.”

During Sam’s birthday party inside the house, Paul Jake kept on approaching her as if he was interested in her. “Hindi ko rin nga masyadong maintindihan. Sabi niya hintayin ko daw ‘yung mga boys na magsabi sa akin ng mga different pick up lines. Pero ang tagal na, wala pa, so nauna na siya. Hindi ko nga na-gets ‘yung point niya. Siguro nangungulit lang talaga siya. Hindi naman siya mukhang lasing na. I don’t think he’s flirting with me.”

Now that she’s back in the outside world, Sam said she is surprised about the legions of “Sam-Paul shippers.” “I have no idea kung ano ‘yung nakita nila sa aming dalawa. Pero para sa akin super off limits na sa akin si Paul Jake because may girlfriend na siya. Sa loob talagang walang ibang bukang bibig si Paul Jake kung hindi ‘yung girlfriend niya. He’s very nice to me lang. Lagi niya akong inaalok ng food.”

Latest Buzz from CNN: ‘Twilight’ star Pattinson says he and Stewart just ‘good friends’

Saturday, November 7, 2009 18:08

Robert Pattinson would like to set the record straight, once and for all, on any supposed romantic link between him and his “Twilight” co-star Kristen Stewart.

They are really just “good friends,” Pattinson said in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, but that’s it — and he finds rumors to the contrary frustrating.

“It doesn’t make any difference what you say [to the tabloids],” said Pattinson. “I’ve literally been across the country [from Kristen], and it’s like ‘Oh, they were on secret dates!’ It’s like ‘Where? I can’t get out of my hotel room!’ ”

Stewart told the magazine she also finds the stories about the two of them infuriating.

“We’re characters in this comic book,” she said.

Still, “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke told the magazine that the two actors shared an unmistakable chemistry on set.

“What Rob and Kristen had is a multitude of feelings for each other,” said Hardwicke. “Complex feelings for each other. It was what we needed. Complex, intense fascination.”

In the Vanity Fair interview, to appear in the magazine’s December issue, Pattinson talked about his relationship with Stewart, as well as reservations he had early on in his acting career. The second movie in the series about teen vampires and forbidden love, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” comes out November 20.

Pattinson said there was a point before “Twilight where he almost gave up on acting completely.

“I was going to all these auditions and telling everyone how I got fired [from a play in London's West End] because I stood up for my principles. … I kind of went nuts for a while,” said Pattinson.

He couldn’t land another job, stopped talking to his agent, and began performing with a guitar in bars.

But after receiving a role in a BBC thriller called “The Haunted Airman,” in which Pattinson appeared in a wheelchair and got to act like “a weirdo,” his outlook changed. “I just changed my whole opinion about everything,” he said, noting he was more willing to go for broke.

Although it may seem now that Pattinson was born to play Edward Cullen, the brooding lead vampire in the movie franchise, director Hardwicke said the studio had doubts about casting him in the lead role.

“They called me up and they literally said, ‘Catherine, do you think you can make this guy look good?’ ” the director told Vanity Fair contributing editor Evgenia Peretz.

“So I said, ‘Here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to get his hair back to a different color, do a different style. He would work with a trainer from now on. My cinematographer is great with lighting. He will study the cheekbones, and I promise you, we’ll make the guy look good.’ ”

Peretz said Pattinson comes across as self-deprecating and still coming to terms with fame. As he told her, “I’m trying not to drown.”

“I guess I’m not the type of guy cut out to do a franchise,” he added. “I’m not much of a crowd person.”

The December issue of Vanity Fair hits newsstands in New York and Los Angeles on November 4 and nationally on November 10.

Parents are upset by a boring ‘Where the Wild Things Are’

Parents may have fond memories of Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book, “Where the Wild Things Are.” But if their social-networking postings are any indication, some are not pleased with the movie.

“It was joyless. There were maybe 15 minutes of the hour and a half that my kids were into it,” said James Griffioen of Detroit, Michigan.

His 4-year-old daughter asked, “Why is this movie so sad?” in the middle of their family’s matinee viewing, while his son, a 20-month-old who normally can’t get enough of the 1963 children’s classic, was simply bored, he told CNN.

Movie critics were, on the whole, approving of the PG-rated film, though the poor reviews were particularly scathing. “I have a vision of 8-year-olds leaving the movie in bewilderment. Why are the creatures so unhappy?” wrote The New Yorker’s David Denby. The heavily publicized film, which opened in theaters last Friday and debuted on top of the weekend box office, seemed to do too much, said Griffioen. He thought much of the problem lay in the script, by director Spike Jonze and author Dave Eggers, which expanded on the 10-sentence children’s book.
